Stand out result of the day (and possibly the season so far) came in the Black Dragon Badges South division as Holbrook St Michaels, who went into the game seeking their first points of the season, entertained the league’s last unbeaten side, Hucknall Town. After running Selston close last week, Holbrook drew on the confidence gained in that game to pull off a 2-1 win. They took the lead in the opening stages through a Sam Williamson header a lead which they held until the first five minutes of the second half when Michael Banister levelled only for Dominic Hayes to score Holbrook’s winner minutes later. Selston extended their lead at the top to eight points as they edged out South Normanton 2-1 at the Parish Hall ground. Shaun Smith put the Shiners ahead on 23 minutes, but Selston fought back in the second half, Elliot Jones equalising on the hour before Carl Moore got a 71st minute winner. Eastwood Community move into third after a comprehensive win at Linby Colliery. Paddy Webb opened the scoring in the first minute, Jonathan Jenkinson making the scores level with 13 minutes played. Webb scored a second from the penalty spot with Rory Smith putting daylight between the teams in first half stoppage time. Webb completed his hat trick ten minutes from time to take his total to 19 in CML games this season before Smith’s second rounded off the scoring. Blidworth Welfare built on last Saturday’s Vase win by putting six past struggling Teversal reserves. Blidworth were three up by half time with Gaz Curtis, Keenan Leeds and Olly Ashton the scorers, and doubled their total after the break as Curtis took his personal total to four. A goal in the second minute from Keith Walker was enough to secure maximum points for Pinxton at Mickleover RBL, while Swanwick had a welcome victory as they saw off Keyworth United 4-0 at Highfield Road. Guy Wilding with two, Dean Owen and Olly Cox were the Swans’ goalscorers. It was all square after a 1-1 draw at Bishops’ Drive as Southwell City’s Ant Brown and Matlock Town reserves’ Tom Savage were the men on target.
In the Black Dragon Badges North division a serious injury to Appleby Frodingham’s keeper Patrick Shaw saw their game with Tideswell United abandoned after an hour at which stage Tideswell led 2-1 through John Ballington and Jack Bradbury with Dayle Hutson having scored for Frod. Best wishes for a speedy recovery go to the player. Clay Cross Town remain in third place after a goal on 62 minutes from Callum Lytham gave them the points at Askern. Newark Town were 4-1 winners over a young Dinnington Town side at Station Road. Sam Wilford put Newark ahead on 8 minutes with Louis Helliwell equalising a couple of minutes before the interval. The home side retook the lead through Jammy Lloyd, the Blues captain getting his second on 78 minutes before Julian Joachim rounded off the win three minutes from time. Dronfield Town reserves ended a run of four defeats with a convincing 5-0 defeat of Thorne Colliery at Stonelow Road. Alois Juma led the way with a double, Matt Hague, Jack Lambert and Ash Rycroft also on the scoresheet. Collingham’s Marlon Grundy scored a hat trick in their 4-2 win at Phoenix. Simon Hughes put the home side ahead on 25 minutes, Tom Moore levelling ten minutes later. Grundy’s first came on 55 minutes from the penalty spot, Mark West equalising before Grundy secured the points for Collingham. AFC Bentley travelled to Bilsthorpe and returned with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Deven Hannan, Jake White and Gary Mundy.
Belper Town got their first win of the season in the YourFootballWorld.com Reserve division, beating Holbrook Sports 5-2. Josh Bullock with two, Gareth Hague, Ieuan Ivett and Billy Morley scored for the Nailers with Jamie Shelton and Kane Samuel netting for Holbrook. Leaders Hucknall Town also scored five as they sank Holbrook St Michaels 5-2 at Watnall Road. There were goals here for Sam Booth, Aaron Evans, Jeremy Moran, Lenford Jenkins and Ashley Dobb for Hucknall, Aaron Pegg and Shakiel Minors replying for the visitors. Sherwood Colliery remain in second spot after a 2-0 defeat of Belper United, Michael Taylor and an own goal sewing up the points. Joe Wells, Will Horton and Tom Coupe were Linby Colliery’s scorers as they won 3-1 at Eastwood, Ross Cheeseman getting one back for the Red Badgers. Swanwick were 3-2 winners at Staveley the goals coming from James Sesin, Adam Gross and Harry Morton. The other two matches were settled by a single goal, Joe Lord winning it for Mickleover RBL at Harworth Colliery, while Jake Dickinson’s strike was decisive for Mickleover Sports against Radford.
