On another weather affected weekend, which saw a numerous spate of postponements, Heswall were consigned to the foot of the Go2Day West Cheshire League's Division One table following a 3-0 reversal at third placed FC Bootle. It was the Gayton Park outfit's eleventh defeat of the season and left their side firmly entrenched in a relegation battle with a daunting visit to current leaders, Mossley Hill Ath. next on their horizon. Previous bottom spot occupants, Chester Nomads, earned some welcome respite when they pulled off a fine 2-1 result at Rainhill Town, courtesy of a goal apiece from Sam Spridgeon and James Tucker. The hosts had Lewis Cain on target while reigning champions, Mersey Royal, despite efforts from Paul Haynes and Jamie Leyland, remained in fifth place but capitulated 3-2 to efforts from Litherland Remyca Res.' Mark Moffatt and Jake Preston and having now achieved back to back wins, the Remy have eased their relegation fears considerably. Elsewhere, Ashville Res. suffered their eleventh defeat of the current campaign. after they were unlocked by a solitary strike from Marshall's Josh Lavender.
The Division Two league table remained unaffected after its fixture programme was completely wiped out, and only one game came under starters orders in Division Three, and it was celebration time for fourth placed challengers, Rainhill Town Res., who savoured a 3-2 win at Runcorn Sports Res. thanks to goals from James Billows, Jamie Casson and Luke Daly. Sports had Jake Hill and Stephen Butler in reply.
Saturday's Youth Division action saw Litherland Remyca top score on the day, efforts from Rex Odeh (2) Eric Thompson, Kyle Reeman and Reece McKane anchoring their side to a 5-2 success at Neston Nomads. who hit back via Jack Coll and Callum Spence. Third placed AFC Knowsley moved to within seven points of the leaders after they overcame Mossley Hill Ath. 3-0 with goals from George Clarkson (2) and Billy Connor.
Division one outfit, Helsby proved too strong for visitors Pierpoints Utd. and progressed to the final of the Runcorn District FA Cup final after they posted a 12-3 result. Tormentor-in-chief was four goal hot-shot George Rimmer, with further efforts from Edi Nogueira (2) Sam Stephens (2) John Egerton, Josh Clayton,. Jamie Hooper and Owen Kucharski confirming the final scoreline.
