Windle Top League Two

Whaley Bridge remain top of the Premier Division following their 3-0 win at home to Malpas. The win at Horwich Park was their 15th of the season, moving them to 45 points, six clear of Knutsford in second. Malpas continue their winless streak, conceding 17 goals in the past three games.


Knutsford stay in second after they beat Congleton Vale 3-1 at Manchester Road. Goals from David Owens (2) and Thomas Rutter gave the reds the win. They sit on 39 points, meaning they are just clear of the chasing pack and two wins off the leaders.


Poynton continue their unbeaten run with a win away at local rivals, Wythenshawe Town, at Ericstan Park. A 3-1 victory for Poynton means that they are edging ever closer to the top three with numerous games in hand. League top scorer Rick Tindall, Matt Toole and Josh Stafford got the goals for the visitors. This loss continues Wythenshawe’s winless run, following their loss last weekend.


Eagle Sports came away from Moss Lane Stadium in Altrincham with yet another surprise win. Gareth Williams’ sole goal meant that Eagle beat Altrincham Reserves 1-0 away from home to move up to twelfth.


Denton Town pulled off another strong win as they beat Rudheath Social by six goals to nil. The Tameside natives won strongly in Northwich as their goals came via Gavin Salmon (3), Daniel Hewitt, Nehru McKenzie and Steve Yarwood. The result keeps Denton in eighth, just a point behind Linotype Cheadle above them.


Linotype Cheadle also won this week, at home to Rylands. The Stockport side won 2-0, through goals from Joe Campbell and Kayle Power, the latter also receiving a red card during the game. Crewe remain just two points behind Nomads following their 4-1 victory over Greenalls PSO. A Charlie Burden brace, plus goals from Danny Lavalette and Robin Gibson mean that increase the game between themselves and Rylands below them to five points.


The two bottom sides, Styal and Garswood United, played each other in a fairly quiet game. United won 1-0 in Wilmslow to draw level on points with Styal. Both sides sit four points behind the next team in the league, Rudheath Social.


In League One, Pilkington move level on points with leaders, Warrington Town Reserves, with a 4-3 win over AFC Macclesfield at home. The home side sit on 43 points, with an inferior goal difference, meaning they currently sit in second.
Warrington Reserves lost 3-2 away at fellow title challengers, Billinge. Goals from Richard Allen, Liam Platt and Jon Redmond were enough to see out the game for Billinge. The result means that the top three are just a point apart, with Warrington Reserves top, Pilkington in second and Billinge in third.


Goals from Callum Priestley and Jamie Petrie meant that Middlewich Town defeated strugglers, Cheadle Town Reserves, at Park Road Stadium. The Witches won 2-1, meaning they move into ninth.


Grappenhall Sports drew 1-1 away at West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves. Sports move to within a win of Cheadle Town above them following the result in South Manchester. The result keeps the Manchester side in fourth, due to other results. They sit ten points behind Billinge in third.


Lostock Gralam were dominant in their 0-7 win away at Halebank. Goals from Harry Short and Dominic Johnson, plus a brace from Matt Griffiths and a Charlie Fisher hat-trick meant that it was a comfortable afternoon for the Grey Lambs.


Mersey Valley won 2-0 in Ashton-on-Mersey at home to Golborne Sports. Goals from Kyle Denton and Peter Westwood mean that Valley end the week in fifth, level on points and goal difference with West Didsbury and Chorlton.


Daten and FC St Helens played out one of the few goalless draws so far this year as neither side could muster a goal at Culcheth Sports Club in Warrington.


Egerton came from behind to beat Tarporey Victoria in Tattenhall. The home side went ahead through Joe Marley before a Jason Wright brace and another goal gave the visitors the win.


Game of the weekend took place in League Two as second placed, Windle Labour, hosted league leaders, Deva Christleton. And it was the home side that emerged victorious, with a 4-3 victory, to leapfrog the league leaders and put themselves top of the table. Deva dropped down to third following the result.


Broadheath Central move into second with a win over Unicorn Athletic. The Altrincham locals won 1-4 in Flixton. Central’s goals came via Jake Foy, Aaron Myers and Tyler Williams.


Moore United’s 5-1 victory over Cuddington brings the home side level with their opponents in the league table. Two braces, courtesy of Matthew Arnold and Joseph Holt, and a Sam Chaddock goal gave Moore the win and all three points.
