FA YOUTH CUP
St Andrews, the last remaining League side in the competition, had the short journey to face fellow Leicestershire side Oadby Town, and unfortunately went out of the competition at this stage as they lost 2-1. Oadby started the stronger and in the 6th minute took a 1-0 lead and it stayed like this until half time, although it should have been more as the Andrews produced some dogged defending and the keeper pulling off a string of excellent saves. After the break, the Andrews came out like a different team and took the game to Oadby in an effort to get the equaliser, and on 75 minutes they got their just reward as Kyle Ram hammered in from close range. Both sides could have won it in the last 15 minutes, however the score remained at 1-1 at the final whistle. So extra time came and the game could have gone either way but 5 minutes from the end, the Andrews hearts were broken as an Oadby player picked the ball up in his own half and ran at the Andrews evading several challenges before firing into the net. Both sides played their part in an entertaining game and it was a credit to Youth football in Leicestershire, played out in front of a crowd which numbered over 100.
