North Hants May Cup Quarter Finals.

Division Two Tron FC won through to the Semi Finals of the North Hants May Cup after crushing Division One opponents Tadley Calleva A 4-0 at Barlow’s Park. The return of Ben Nicholls, out of action since the end of October through suspension and injury had a big impact, scoring twice to see them two goals up at the break and Tadley were never at the races after that. Nicholls opened his account after just 40 seconds when a long clearance from keeper Adam Aimable bounced over the head of Lee Champion, was picked up by Nicholls and he raced through to beat keeper Greg Harper from the edge of the box. In the 40th a move started by Lorne Howard, led to Sam Nicholls cross and Ben Nicholls shot being deflected in off full back Dan Walkley to double their lead. As Tadley attacked in the second half the Tron defence, minus their key centre back Gordon Birch, held firm with Charlie Hart keeping 34 goals Kye Theodore quiet and then in a counter attack they went 3-0 ahead. Conner Dawber, making a rare appearance for Darren Hutchins side, broke free and beat Harper with a 25 yard shot. In the 78th came the fourth. Another long clearance from Aimable and after playing a one two with Jamie Ballantyne, Lorne Howard beat the keeper with his low drive. Tron will now meet Andover League club South Wonston Swifts away in the Semi Finals.

In the other Quarter Final Overton United A made their exit after this ordered replay with Kings Somborne, the Andover side winning 5-1 at Berrydown. Overton started off well enough and went into the lead after seven minutes. Luke Gore went on a solo run, danced round a couple of defenders and slotting past the keeper. After that it was all downhill with Somborne leading 3-1 at the break and no response in the second half as the visitors remain in control an added two more. A Semi Final against Hook away may on 20th February, may prove a tougher proposition for the winners.

The outstanding Peter Raynbird Cup Quarter Final between AFC Aldermaston A and Hook was postponed due to the pitch at AWE Aldermaston being waterlogged. It will now be played this coming Saturday
