Bitton 0 - 3 AEK Boco
The game started end to end with both defences put under pressure until the 30th minute when Harry Cole hit a 30 yard drive straight into the top corner making it 1-0 to AEK-BOCO at Half Time
The second half was more controlled by AEK-BOCO - with Charlie Thompson and Louis Howard running the midfield, the defence dealing with any attack, and the strikers constantly on the look out for a shot.
Around 15 minutes into the second half, Harry Cole hit another class strike from 25 yards to put AEK 2-0 up. The pressure continued, the final goal coming from a great run down the right by Jake Cleverley, who hit the ball from wide past the Bitton Keeper.
Credit should go to the Bitton Keeper who in the second half kept Zac Cheatham at bay - in any other fixture Zac would have come off with 4 goals for his hard work
A great local derby
Rockleaze Rangers 2 – 3 Downend Saints
Christmas comes early for Saints!
Another close encounter, however this time Saints came out on top. It was an even opening, with both defences working hard thwarting the oppositions attacks. Saints got the break through on 13 minutes, as Isaac Staples found space on the edge on the area, with his shot deflecting off a defender and wrong footing the Rockleaze keeper. Saints continued to battle and got their rewards on 20 minutes, as Saints other striker Dan Ford, played the ball out left and Mitchell Jeffreys played it in to Isaac, who drilled a low shot into the bottom left corner leaving the Rockleaze keeper routed to the spot.
The game was very even with very few chances for the remainder of the half, although Rockleaze had a 5 minute spell of pressure at 35 minutes but found Saints keeper Will Evans in good form as he pulled off several fine saves to only concede corners. There were about 7 corners in a row as Saints could not clear the ball away. The final 2 efforts, not saved by Will, saw Luke Mills clear off the line, and another shot hitting the post.
HT Score – 0-2
The next goal would be crucial, so Saints wanted to keep things tight for the first 10 minutes or so, but Rockleaze had changed their formation and started the half very fast and strong - Saints were under pressure. Rockleaze got their reward on 52 minutes, as they too had a deflected shot, which wrong footed the Saints keeper. A few minutes later the score was 2-2 after Saints failed to clear their lines and Rockleaze scored from close range. How would Saints react, after no wins this season and losing the lead.
Well they gradually got back into the game, and Isaac had a few shots, some were saved, some were too high, but at least Saints were back in the ascendancy. Saints got their reward on 70 minutes, as again Isaac had a shot saved, but the rebound was driven low into the bottom right corner by captain Luke Mills.
Isaac had another chance late on to put the tie to bed, but went for power rather than precision, and hit his fierce shot straight at the Rockleaze keeper.
Some nervy moments at the end as Rockleaze pushed for an equaliser, but Saints’ held out..
FT Score – 2-3
