In the West Riding County Challenge Cup Linthwaite Athletic moved into the quarterfinals following a fine 2-0 win over Beeston St Anthonys from the West Yorkshire League Premier Division. Nathan Wadsworth and Jacob Waterson scoring the goals.
They will now play away against Gomersal and Cleckheaton from the West Yorkshire League Premier Division on February 3rd, kick-off 2pm.
Berry Brow went close in their tie against Ealandians from the Yorkshire Amateur League Supreme Division before bowing out 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Against the run of play Ealandians opened the scoring in the first half to lead 1-0 at half-time. Berry Brow equalised in the second half from the penalty spot scored by Kyle Walton. Despite Brow dominating the second half Ealandians took the lead again before Brow equalised with minutes remaining with a goal scored by Jordan Elvidge. If Brow had taken their chances penalties wouldn’t have been needed. Both sides scored their first three penalties before Ealandians keeper Clayton Smith saved the next two Brow penalties to send them out.
Honley kept the District League flag flying in the West Riding County Challenge Trophy beating Otley Town Reserves from the West Yorkshire League Alliance Division 1. After a goalless ninety minutes Honley won 4-3 on penalties to go through to the quarterfinals. They will now play Bradford United on February 3rd, kick off 2pm.
Grange Moor Saints travelled to Thurgoland Welfare from the Sheffield Fair Play League Premier Division in the Sheffield County Challenge Trophy quarterfinal. After a cautious start to the game the Saints took control and opened the scoring, but Thurgoland equalised just before half-time. The Saints totally controlled the second half and won comfortably 6-2. The goals came from Adam Wain, with a towering back post header, Louis Wilkey and Cameron Wilkey with four. In the semifinal Grange Moor have been drawn at home to play Wickersley Old Village vets over 35’s from the Wragg Veterans League Premier Division. The game will be played on January 20th, kick off 2pm.
In the Premier Division Deighton moved up to second place following their 6-1 win over Shepley with goals from Devonte Gayle (two), Coron Rowe (two), Dante Newell and Jamal Simpson. Danny Glover scoring for Shepley. Benjamin Hallitt scored for Kirkheaton Rovers in their 1-1 draw with Holmbridge with Robert Parr scoring for the Bridge. Netherton are up to fourth place following their 2-2 draw at Slaithwaite United. Netherton were 2-0 up curtesy of goals from Alex Vickerman and Michael Carter and appeared to be cruising to all three points. However, Ben Boulton pulled one back for Slowit in the 90th minute before Chris Wilkins stole a point for Slowit with a 93rd minute equaliser.
Huddersfield Laund Hill dropped down to second place in Division 1 following their 1-1 draw with Skelmanthorpe. Jack Woods scored for Shat with Zach Nash scoring for Laund Hill. Saddleworth United regained top spot with goals from Ross Stanley (two), Oliver Harris and an own goal in their 4-1 derby win over neighbours Diggle. Will Rowland scored for Diggle. Courtney Allert hit a hattrick as Almondbury Woolpack beat Holme Valley Academicals 5-0 with James Acquah scoring a brace to complete the scoring. Scissett beat Lepton Highlanders 2-1 with goals from Chris Johnson and Tom Lockwood to move up to sixth place. Jason Evans scored twice as Moorside beat Kirkburton 2-1 to move up to third place with Finlay Wilcock scoring for Burton.
A late own goal saw AFC Volunteers extend their lead in Division 2 by nine points following their 3-2 win at Meltham Athletic. Anthony Wadsworth and James Thorpe completed the scoring for the Vols. Matthew Henighan and Connor Lockwood-Jackson scored for Meltham. Wooldale Wanderers beat Brighouse Athletic 3-1, and Netherton Reserves beat Cumberworth 3-2. Ethan Horsfall, Ellis Pejica and Steven Hoyle scoring for Netherton with Jack Byrne and Arron Smith scoring for Cumberworth.
In Division 3 Bryn Green, Nick Spurr (two), Ryan Lach and Bradley Stansfield scored for Britannia Sports in their 5-4 defeat of promotion chasing Slaithwaite United Reserves. Ryan Patterson (three) and Isaac Brown scoring for Slowit. Heywood Irish Centre with goals from Alex Crawford, Ritchie Evans and Martin Boon drew 3-3 with Hade Edge. Lewis Barden, Cameron Young and Adam Taylor scored for the Edge. Joe Gomez, Daryl Lockwood and Sam Dawson (two) scored for Mount in their 4-1 win over Holmfirth Town. Daniel Clarke scored for Holmfirth.
Nathan Kavanaugh and Joe Senior scored as Linthwaite A moved up to third place in Division 4 in their 2-0 win over Berry Brow B. Netherton A drew with Scissett Reserves 1-1 and Wooldale Wanderers Reserves beat Diggle Reserves 2-1.
Allerton stay in second place in Division 5 after their 7-2 win over Britannia Sports A with goals from Adam Khan (two), Arbab Mahmood, Umais khan, Mustafa Zeb, Suhayl Ali and Dhaniel Mahmood. Matthy Lenihan and Simeon Yianni scoring for Britannia. Joe Rockett scored for Cumberworth A in their 1-1 draw with Hade Edge Development. Isaac Sturgess scoring for the Edge. Josh Armitage hit a hattrick as Brook motors beat Fenton United 6-0 with John Lodge (two) and Jack Turner completing the scoring. Honley Reserves moved up to fifth place after their 7-1 win over Almondbury Woolpack Reserves.
