Warrington head back to the top...

Wythenshawe Town took advantage of the fact that Knutsford and Whaley Bridge didn’t play in the Premier Division this weekend as they move level on points with the reds following their 2-1 victory away at Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds. A Douglas Carroll brace was enough to come back from a goal down to take all three points.

Altrincham Reserves won away at Crewe by four goals to two. The Robins keep themselves in the title challenge. They sit two points below Wythenshawe and Knutsford and eight points behind Whaley Bridge at the top.

Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads move up to fifth following their dominant display at home to Eagle Sports. It finished 4-0 at The Heath, goals from Dean McGregor, Phillip Yuille and a Joe Campbell brace gave the Stockport side their victory.

Both sides bottom of the table (Styal and Garswood United) won this weekend in strong fashion. Styal got revenge on Rylands, who had beat them by 10 goals to nil a few weeks back, and Garswood defeated Malpas. The Wilmslow locals beat Rylands by 3 goals to nil through goals from Tom Pryce and Alex Wheelan (2).

In Division One, it was Warrington Town Reserves who finished the week in top spot. They defeated bottom side, Grappenhall Sports by six goals in a very one sided local derby. Goals from Rhys Bowers, Dylan Glass, John Edge and a John Humphreys hat-trick gave the Yellows the victory as they move into joint first with Pilkington.

Pilkington beat Cheadle Town Reserves 3-1 at Ruskin Drive to move up to 46 points, but with inferior goal difference to Warrington Reserves.
Billinge fell victim to a shock defeat to Halebank.

The Warrington natives lost 2-1 moving them back down to third. A Liam Platt goal wasn’t enough for Billinge to win the game and they will be coming out of this week a little disappointed that they couldn’t take anything from the match.

AFC Macclesfield move upto fourth following their win at Stockport Sports Village against Daten. Macc won 4-2 at home as Daten finished the game with nine men after two red cards, one for Kyle Gallagher and the other for substitute, Jon Priest. FC St Helens dropped points away at Egerton as they drew 2-2. Goals from Paul Sweeney and Liam Houghton weren’t enough for St Helens to win the game.

In Division Two, there was just one game as Windle Labour travelled to Winstanely Warriors. Windle move three points clear at the top of the table on the back of the victory. The visitors were down to ten men by full time, but goals from Newton and Howarth gave them all three points.

In Reserve Division One, Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds beat Poynton to move within two points of the league leaders, Eagle Sports, and in Reserve Division Two, Middlewich Town and FC St Helens drew 1-1 as St Helens move to the top of the league.

This week also saw the first week of the President’s Cup group stage. Daten Reserves beat Malpas Reserves 11-0 to move top of their group this week. Goals from Brown, Bell, Dixon (2), Nutkins, Stewart (5) and Wolfenholme.

Tarporley Vics beat Eagle Sports Reserves by five goals to nil in their game.

Golborne Sports Reserves lost 3-4 in a closely fought game at home to Mersey Valley (who had to play a weakened side due to playing in two different competitions at the same time)

Unicorn Athletic defeated Rylands Reserves 2-1 and Sandbach United Reserves defeated Pilkington Reserves 2-0 away from home.
