Newton, with goals from Ross McDowell, Adam Campbell and Paul Williams, secured a 3-2 result over Go2Day West Cheshire League Division One title rivals, Maghull, on Friday evening, as the third placed challengers safeguarded their hundred per cent record to date, with seven wins from as many outings. Adam Hammill obliged with both goals for the visitors, WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.

Current leaders, Mossley Ath., scored through Caleb Jones but were denied maximum spoils by Marshalls, who merited a point thanks to a reply from Bisensio Kamilo, while fourth placed Helsby, recorded their sixth win of the season, Lee Turkington (3) and Lee Guirado finding the net in a 4-1 triumph at Aintree Villa, who hit back via Sam Dahl.
FC Bootle's 2-1 decision over Rainhill Town was confirmed by goals from Isaac Jones and Dylan Westerside. Eddie Hawthorne was Rainhill's marksman and honours were shared in the South Wirral derby, after Kieron Frost netted for Ellesmere Port Town in their 1-1 stalemate with Vauxhall Motors Res.
In another drawn game, an Elliot Taylor effort, coupled with an own goal helped Litherland Remyca to a 2-2 finish with Capenhurst  Villa who had Steve Rowlands and Tom Challinor on the mark.

Despite a goal from Jack Mountford, Division Two title challengers, South Liverpool Res., spurned the opportunity to take over at the top, when a reply from Louie Molyneux assured visitors, Mossley Hill U23's of a welcome point.
Top scorers were Marshalls Res., who romped home 10-0 against Huyton Rovers, highlighted by a hat trick from Luc Haralambous,  with further contributions from Josh Lavender (2) Daniel Abayomi, Joe Birkett, Greg Kettlewell, Brendon Ndlovu and Alex Ngunza.
After narrowly losing to Cammell Laird 1907 in their mid-week Wirral DFA Senior Cup first round clash, West Kirby bounced back positively, and were indebted to an Ash Power double for their fine 2-0 victory at Maghull Res.
Elsewhere, efforts from Runcorn Sports' Dom Bazely and Jay Blythe were negated by replies from Neston Nomads' Ollie Dutton and Sam Hayley and as a result of a serious injury to a player, the game between Hooton and local rivals, Higher Bebington Kelma, was abandoned after 29 minutes.

West Kirby Res. had brothers Liam and Mike Keating on target, but suffered a 4-2 defeat to Division Three pacesetters, FC Kirkby, who clinched victory thanks to efforts from Danny Downes, Charlie Bennett, Ethan Highton and Brendan Rawcliffe. The same scoreline saw Rainhill Town Res. pocket all three points from their tussle with Heswall U23's with Cam Ramsay, Ellis Hassall, Kyle Ferguson and Kian Carrall finding the net. Heswall responded through Ben Gore and Brad Geer.
A goal from Ben Roberts proved insufficient, as Groves capitulated 2-1 to replies from Great Sutton's Liam McCrellis and Tom Boulton while Poulton Vics, with goals from Leighton Clarke, Leon Clarke, Jon Paul Evans and Lewis Mooney put four goals past Frodsham Park JFC without reply.
Respective marksmen in Helsby Res.' 6-4 victory over Runcorn Sports Res. were Jaden Ditchfield (2) Adam Harding, Sam Telford, George Holloway, Ant Collings, Steve Butler (2) Harvey Crook and Luca Tron.
Capenhurst Villa Res. had Rob McDowell and Matty Hickman on the mark but it was second placed Cammell Laird 1907 Res. who profited, goals from Dale Atherton, Luke Burns and Adam Larway anchoring the visitors to a 3-2 verdict.

Division One strugglers, Heswall, without a win to their credit prior to Saturday's Wirral DFA Senior Cup first round tie with unbeaten Division Two leaders Mallaby, gave their followers reason to celebrate, after they emerged 5-1 victors. Jake Ramsay, Tom Porschke, Liam Grealis, Kynan Mason and Jack Darlington shared the goals. Tom Edge netted for the visitors.

Saturday's Youth Division action saw Bobby Barker's hat trick, supplemented by an effort from Leo Patton inspire leaders, Cammell Laird 1907 to a 4-1 win against Runcorn Linnets who scored via Jack Ball. Nearest rivals, Maghull B, accounted for AFC Knowsley 3-2 with goals from Adam Howes, Nathan Moffitt and Dan Dearing.
Goals from Lewis Greenhalgh (2) and Tom Barratt inspired West Kirby Utd. to a 3-0 victory over Athletico Blues, but a Charlie Norris double counted for nothing, as Mossley Hill Ath. went down 3-2 at Vauxhall Motors, who sealed the issue, thanks to efforts from Josh Jefferey, James Dawson and Ethan Simon.
Neston Nomads had a field day at Maghull, Cal Spence, Zak Dean, Tom Davis, Charlie Price, Charlie Monaghan and Dan Steele struck to set up 6-1 victory for Nomads.
