A hat trick by Charlie Henry on his debut, gave Hampshire Irons FC a 4-3 victory against DJS Telecoms FC, despite trailing 2-1 at the break. His first after 15 minutes came with a well-placed shot from just outside the penalty area. DJS soon hit back to level when Lee Neal got on the end of a cross from Ashley Roberts. DJS took the lead in the 44th minute when Neal beat keeper Jack Rickard with a firm shot into the top corner. The long throws from Gavin Curry had DJS in trouble throughout and one such throw led to an own goal to put Irons level. DJS soon regained their lead when Ashley Elward followed up to knock in the rebound after the Irons’ keeper had made a good save. With 20 minutes to go, Tom Chant sent Henry through on goal and he made it 3-3. Another Curry long throw led to Henry scoring his third and this goal proved to be the decider.
Hook FC were thought to be firm favorites to win the division, but suffered a surprise 2- 1 defeat against visitors Basingstoke Athletic FC. It was an own goal that handed Athletic their opener, Will Hill gave away a free kick, which their keeper Tony Foster was unable to reach and Jon Noakes headed into his own goal as he attempted to clear the danger. Tom Davies looked to have equalized, but his effort was disallowed for offside. Dale Bristow hit the bar for Athletic before Hook drew level in the 41st minute as Andy Parker popped up at the far post to head home a cross from James Neville. Athletic regained their lead in the 70th minute via a 25 yard strike from Ryan Evans which proved too good for Foster. Hook then brought on Pete Silvester and only two very good saves from James Lounton stopped Hook from at least taking a point. Hook Manager Nathan Kill felt that his side deserved a point after much of the play.
Twentyten FC could not follow up their excellent 4-0 win the previous week and had to be content with draw against Basingstoke Labour Club FC. In the end Labour Manager Dan Poulter was happy with a point as he was without his two main strikers and had a scratch team out with veteran Michael Craggs in goal. Twentyten had several chances in the first half with Joe Hill and Jordon Wainwright forcing good saves from Craggs and Wainwright had a certain goal cleared off the line by Nathan Reid. It was in the 65th minute when Twentyten went ahead, it was Carl Pearson with the pass and Ryan Lupton who slipped the ball past keeper Sam Cook, who was a second half replacement for Craggs. It took Labour ten minutes to level the scores. A free kick taken by Mark West deflected past the helpless Jack Nicholson. Ryland Willows hit the post later on. Poulter brought on Sam Gook as substitute in midfield and felt he made an impact in midfield. Twentyten manager Alan Spacagna praised the opposition, saying they had worked hard and closed us down.
Sherborne St John FC may have lost some of last season’s squad, but Overton United FC ‘A’ looked no match for them after Sherborne chalking up a 7-2 win at home. Trevor Livingstone’s men led early on from a penalty converted by Ibraham Waheed, but Overton drew level through Ben Pierce who lobbed new keeper Karrem Jalwani. Sam Taylor chased a long ball for Sherborne’s second, and a solo effort from Sachin Rei brought the third. By the break Waheed had headed in his second goal of the game from Taylor’s cross. James Lovell making his Sherborne debut, added another before Jamal Rose scored the second for Overton to make it 5-2. Mukum Limbu, originally from Nepal, put away a free kick taken by Ryan Morgan and the final goal came from a penalty kick, taken by Lovell after Morgan was brought down by an Overton Defender. Overton United Stalwart Colin Phillimore managed their side in this match after Danny Smith, who led Overton United FC ‘A’ to the Division One title last season resigned from his position with the club.
