Monday 15 April Chester Nomads Res. moved level on points with second placed challengers FC Kirkby, and fuelled their promotion drive from the Go2Day West Cheshire League's Division Three, after Spencer Postles struck twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Jamie Edge in Monday's 3-0 eclipse of Great Sutton, WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.
In the Youth Division, basement outfit Maghull had reasons to be cheerful, after four goal Sean Douglas left his calling card in the 6-0 rout of Mossley Hill Ath. as the hosts chalked up their second win of the season. A further effort from Kyle Loftus and an own goal completed the scoreline.

Efforts from Dale Atherton, Ben Crossley and Ellis Jones secured a 3-1 victory for the Shipbuilders,. Liam Johnstone netted Kirkby's reply. Wednesday 17 April There's may a slip twixt cup and lip, so the saying goes, as Division One leaders, Mossley Hill Ath. found to their cost, after they suffered only their second defeat of the season, when goals from Joe Ferguson and Patrick Jones anchored visitors, Newton, to a 2-0 victory.
The points were shared after a goal from Maghull's Darren Brannigan was negated by a response from FC Bootle's Jacob Jones, while Chester Nomads eased their way clear of the bottom two, after Brandon Dickinson and Charlie Jones found the net in the 2-0 triumph over Mersey Royal.
Division Three action saw a goal from Capenhurst Villa Res.' Aiden Hill fail to prevent his side from capitulating 4-0 to replies from Helsby Res.' Jaden Ditchfield (2) Eden Weatherup and Jack Binder.
A Callum Grimes hat trick was supplemented by an effort from Louie Smith as South Liverpool accounted for AFC Knowsley 4-1 in the Youth Division. Jack Wilson-Jones was the hosts' marksman and it was celebration time for Maghull B, after goals from Nathan Moffitt (2) Luke Kilcullen and Adam Ross secured a 4-2 result over title rivals, Athletico Blues.
Friday 19 April Congratulations to Division Two leaders, South Liverpool Res., who completed the first leg of league and cup double after they overcame Runcorn Sports in the Haworth & Gallagher Bowl final at Cammell Laird. The game was eventually resolved 7-6 in South's favour on penalties after 90 minutes and extra time had produced a 1-1 stalemate. During normal time, Steve Rothwell was on the mark for Sports with Yusuf Moshin netting for South. Mossley Hill Ath. U23's emerged 4-3 victors over Aintree Villa Res. in a Division Two clash, endorsed by goals from Leo Reynolds, Elliot Murphy, Asher Duncan and Chris Hapi-Fankam. The visitors hit back via Alfie Connor (2) and Joe Summers.
WEEKEND ACTION.........
Despite a midweek defeat, Go2Day West Cheshire League Division One leaders, Mossley Hill Ath. are now a point away from confirming their first top flight title success, following Saturday's 5-0 result at Aintree Villa which featured efforts from Nathan Peet (2) Caleb Jones, Will Maddock and Leo Reynolds. Hat tricks from Darren Brannigan and Marcus Stewart anchored nearest rivals, Maghull, to a 6-1 victory at Mersey Royal, who had Jamie Leyland on the mark, while a double from Ellesmere Port Town's Ben Summers was matched by replies from FC Bootle's Mark Madden and Isaac Jones. A goal apiece from Ben Dunleavy and Jack Gibney earned Rainhill Town a 2-0 win at Heswall but 90 minutes failed to produce a goal between Chester Nomads and Marshalls. Elsewhere, on target for Newton in their 5-2 result over Capenhurst Villa were Jackson Ellis (3) and Joe Williams (2).
The day's only Division Two fixture saw Higher Bebington Kelma register their sixth win of the season, Alex Clarke (2) and Andy Noonan obliging in the 3-1 decision over South Sefton Borough.
Goals were the order of the day in Division Three highlighted by leaders, Cammell Laird 1907 Res. who went eight points clear of the chasing pack with a game in hand, after Adam Larway and Kieran Hughes each struck three times in the 6-0 win over Capenhurst Villa Res. Not to be outdone, West Kirby Res., went one better, efforts from Owen Hollywood (2) Lewis Handford (2) Mike Mocha, Dean Wylde and an own goal sparking a 7-0 rout of Poulton Vics.
Youth Division leaders, Athletico Blues, with goals from Luke Parry (2) George Murray and Finnbar McGovern accounted for AFC Knowsley 4-0, but despite a goal from Jack Jenkinson, Maghull B's title chances went into reverse, after they capitulated 4-1 at home to efforts from West Kirby Utd.'s John Lyon (2) Brad Downey and Tom Barratt. Second placed Cammell Laird 1907 cranked up their title challenge, Ted Galer (2) Jack Gordon (2) Leo Patton, Myles Arnott and Joe Taylor making the scoresheet in Saturday's 7-3 eclipse of Litherland Remyca who replied through Dylan Riley (2) and Kyle Reeman. Neston Nomads took their wins for the season into double figures when Will Fitzgerald, Thomas Davis and Nate Jones bagged a goal each in a 3-1 result at Mossley Hill Ath. while Runcorn Linnets were on the receiving end against South Liverpool, beaten only once so far this season, who posted a 7-0 result. Alex Pyle (3) Shea Wordsworth, Ellis Jago, Owen Thompson and Jack Colburn were the hot-shots.
