Hampshire Junior 'A' Cup Quarter Final.

TwentyTen FC move into the Semi Finals of the Hampshire Junior 'A' Cup after beating Shanklin FC Reserves 1-0 at Preston Candover, with their lone goal netted by substitute Franklin Spacagna and will now travel to the Isle of Wight to play Osborne Coburg FC on March 5th.

Shanklin looked a good team and were well marshalled, but seemed content to just keep a clean sheet rather than attack a lot. In the first half Twentyten created a couple of chances. Joe Osborne failed to take advantage following a cross from Jordon Wainwright and in the 40th Joe Hill hit the bar after a good cross from Christian Cox fell to him. TwentyTen were restricted to shots from outside the box until when on came Spacagna to press for the winner. It came when a cross from Osborne found Joe Hill, his shot was well saved but fell to Cox, again the keeper could only parry and it finally came out to Spacagna who gave the keeper no chance with his drive.

Basingstoke Junior 'B' Cup Semi Finals.

It is Herriard Sports FC versus Tron FC in the Final of the Basingstoke 'B' Cup, to be played at the Winklebury Football Complex on Saturday 19th March with a 6.30pm Kick Off.

Herriard are the current holders after they defeated favourites Basingstoke Athletic FC last sason, and they will be underdogs again this time against unbeaten Tron.

It was AFC Berg they defeated 4-1 on Saturday after a late switch saw this game played at Brighton Hill from Stratton Park, but it was no easy win with three of their goals coming in the final eight minutes. Berg were not really expected to win against well placed Herriard, unbeaten in Division Two, while their opponents are bottom of the table. Their task became more difficult when they went down to ten men in the 13th minute when Jamie Cannings was sent off after bringing down Chris Dobbie, clear and on rout to goal.

They then fell behind in the 21st minute when Adam Nelson put away a cross from Martin Miles with a well placed shot. Berg had plenty of the ball despite their handicap and two minutes after the break they equalized. Full back Richard Ellis was beaten by the pace of Kieran Allayne, who cut in and beat the Herriard manager Craig Lewington, who had to keep goal in this vital game in the absence of regular Stephen Wood. In the 55th Herriard were awarded a penalty after Dobbie was brought down, but after getting up he fired the spot kick over the bar. Berg did not give up the fight and in fact looked likely scorers until injuries to Kieran Hollow and Warren Hems meant they went off and in the 82nd minute Herraird regained the lead when Dobbie broke through from a Stuart Minton pass to beat the keeper and soon after he lobbed his second over the stranded keeper to make it 3-1. In the final minute Matt Goodman took a pass from Alex Roberts to end the contest.

Tron FC look red hot favourites to win the cup as at present they are unbeaten in all competitions this season and while Bounty United FC, although currently top of the table, were not expected to beat them on the 3G pitch at Everest School, did put up a good fight.

Although the final score was 6-2 in their favour, it was not the start Tron expected when Bounty went into a two goal lead by the ninth minute. A hopeful ball down field was picked up by Mitchell Stokes, his pass found Matt Love who scored from ten yards out. The second game from a corner kick, headed out by Gordon Birch, but snapped by Jordan Wiullis and he headed in for the 2-0 lead. Tron came back in the 38th minute when Johnny Ervin took a free kick and it was .fumbled over the line by keeper Symon Duszynshk In the 41st came the equalizer, when Richard Kalwarczyk lobbed home following a 20 yard pass from Ben Nicholls. In the 48th minute Tron took the lead when a corner by Ervin was headed down by Barney Powell and a half volley from Stuart Austen beat the keeper from just inside the box. Birch headed the fourth from a corner taken by Ervin. A clash of heads between Jordon Willis and Zac Reynolds meant a rush to hospital for the Bounty captain and Reynolds also going off. This meant Richard McCoubrie coming on as sub for Tron and he scored with his first touch to make it 5-2. The final goal and the best came from a 25 yarder by Man of the Match Jonny Ervin.

Basingstoke Saturday League

Division One

Basingstoke Athletic FC found some form and won 8-4 against Basingstoke Labour Club FC, but they still remain bottom of the Division One table on goal difference, with both Hampshire Irons FC and Overton United FC 'A' also on ten points. Dale Bristow and Ryan Evans gave them a two goal lead and after Cameron George replied for Labour, Evans soon made it 3-1. Back came Labour to level through Nat Reid and Matt Kelly but Athletic led at the break when Mike Borbery netted. It became 4-4 when Kelly scored his second, but when Paul Taylor nosed Athletic in front again it was all Athletic and two from Adam Smith and the eight came from Bristow. There was a late penalty save by James Lounton from the spot kick by George, that stopped a fifth for Labour.

Division Two

In Division Two Bounty United moves into top position after former leaders Overton United FC 'B' were ordered to replay their 4-1 win in December against Basingstoke United FC after fielding an unregistered player.

On Saturday Basingstoke United picked up three points at home to AFC Aldermason 'A' and with just two defeats are still in line for promotion. They took a two goal lead by the 20th minute with goals from Lewis Clayton and Gus Reis. Aldermaston replied when a good ball from Tomas Yates found Kevin Flain and his square pass was put away by substitute Andy Hynes. The third to sew up the points was scored by James Lucas.
Winklebury Wizards FC have been languishing bottom of the table all season, but came good against Basingstoke Athletic FC Reserves, winning 7-0. A half volley by Dom Stevens put them ahead in the 4th minute and Scotty Winterborne headed home the second in the 19th minute. Adam Bartlett made it 3-0 by the break and a Bartlett free kick put them four up.
In the 57th Stevens netted again and after Bartlett completed his hat trick, Stevens scored his third when his penalty kick was saved and he followed up to net the rebound. There is good news for Manager Harry Grainger, for they are in the Final of the North Hants Junior Cup. They were due to meet the winners of the SparTen FC v Over Wallop FC Semi Final, but as both clubs had played ineligible players they were removed from the competition, and so giving Wizards a walk over into the Final. This is to be played at the Whitchurch United Ground on Wednesday 16th March KO 7.30pm.
