A Chris Barrow treble spearheaded Ashville’s 6-3 triumph at Shaftesbury while New Brighton [Paul Howell, Jay Clare, Perrie Black, and Jay Sherratt] booked a place in round 2 courtesy of a 4-0 success at Malpas. There was a campaign’s 1st win for Cammell Laird Reserves who reached the next stage courtesy of a 6-3 defeat of hosts Dukinfield Town.
Division 1 action saw West Kirby [Chay Dysart, Adam Lee] lose at home for the 2nd successive week as Lee Tynan and Sam Wilkie each grabbed doubles for Maghull who leapfrogged the Seasiders into top spot as a result. Maghull’s 4-2 victory was matched by Southport Trinity [Phil Frankland, Colin McDonald, Steve Walmsley, and O.G.] who saw off Christleton [Nathan Freeman, Lee Butterworth]. Marshalls have settled into life in the top sphere and on Saturday a Sean Robinson brace played a major part in their 5-0 defeat of host side Willaston. Kieran Fleetwood was another 2 goal man as Newton saw off Marine Reserves by a 4-1 margin while in midweek Marine had a hat trick star in Tony Amos as they saw off Cammell Laird Reserves 4-3.
In a reduced Division 2 programme Mossley Hill Athletic made further progress as Barry Coventry and Yusuf Malik posted hat tricks in the 7-2 defeat of Heswall Reserves while Maghull Reserves [Brad Smart, John Humphries] edged out West Kirby Reserves [Ian Hobday] by 2 goals to 1. Leaders Hale eased to a 4-0 home success over South Liverpool in the Youth Division but Belfry took the goal scoring plaudits thanks to their 11 – 0 victory at Marshalls with Paul Taylor being the days top marksman thanks to a 4 goal haul.
