Newton put the disappointment of their Cheshire Amateur Cup first round exit firmly behind them, and re-ignited their challenge for the Go2Day West Cheshire League's Division One title, thanks to a 3-2 result at Aintree Villa. Unbeaten third placed Newton safeguarded their 100% record, thanks to efforts from Thomas Fields, Joe Burns and Dom Earle, with Aiden Webb and Jamie Alty in reply for Villa, WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.

With nine consecutive victories to their credit, leaders, Mossley Hill Ath., courtesy of a goal apiece from Paul Pearson and Cai Jones, savoured a hard fought 2-1 win at Helsby who had Lee Turkington on target, while nearest rivals, Maghull, inspired by a Darren Brannigan double, accounted for Mersey Royal 2-0.
Fourth placed challengers, Rainhill Town, romped home 5-1 against Capenhurst Villa. Doubles from Eddie Hawthorne and Colm Lynch were supplemented by a further goal from Dave Kelly in a comfortable win. Phil Quilliam obliged with Cape's consolation.
Despite efforts from Mike Ellery and Harley Williams, Vauxhall Motors Res. capitulated 3-2 to replies from FC Bootle's  Jordan Dillworth (2) and Joe Tynan.

Brandon Dickinson netted for Chester Nomads who were on the receiving end at Marshalls, who breezed home 6-1, with Callum Hodgkinson (2) Adetunji Ogunyemi (2) Jacob Till and Cam Callinor finding the net for the hosts.

Division Two leaders, Mallaby, with efforts from Danny McLoughlin (2) Kian Hamm (2) and
Seb Pierce stayed a point in credit at the top, after they won 5-0 against a depleted West Kirby, while second placed South Liverpool Res., made it six wins from six, Thomas Cokewright (2) and Quenton Manase leaving their calling cards in a 3-0 decision over Aintree Villa Res.

Honours were shared after goals from Neston Nomads' Will Sara-Kelly (2) and Ollie Dutton were negated by replies from South Sefton Borough's Josh Panther, Baf Djabi and Dan Spear and third placed Hooton remained in the leading duo's slipstream, after they won 3-0 against Runcorn Sports, with Joel Whalley (2) and Paul Dulson on target.

Huyton Rovers' second win of the season was confirmed, when goals from Eddie Johnson, Lee Owens, Dom Hesketh and Adam Evans anchored their side to a 4-3 success against Mossley Hill Ath. U23's who hit back via Matt Lawler, Alex Northover and Jacob Bowsie.
In another 4-3 finish, efforts from Andy Noonan, Bryan Layfield and Ben Kierman failed to prevent Higher Bebington Kelma from losing at home to Marshalls Res.

Division Three's match of the day saw unbeaten leaders, FC Kirkby travel to Chester Nomads Res., who had Cam Clark on the mark in a 1-1 stalemate. That result allowed second placed Cammell Laird 1907 Res. to claw back ground on the leaders, after they won 6-3 against Heswall U23's, with Kieran Hughes (2) Ben Crossley, Adam Larway, Luke Rawlings and John Paul Leasor sharing the goals. Zac Phillips. Ben Gore and Harry Edwards netted for the visitors.
Runcorn Sports Res. top scorers on the day, Stephen Butlers' hat trick setting the seal on a 7-0 triumph over Frodsham Park JFC., further goals from Harry Robinson, Greg Short, Zach Comer and Jack White endorsing the win. Owen Hollywood, Ben Hawitt and Kyle Bennett were West Kirby Res.' marksmen in a 3-0 verdict over Groves Ath.  and it was celebration time for Capenhurst Villa Res.,when a Gabe Kwateng hat trick edged a 3-2 result over South Wirral rivals, Ellesmere Port U23's . James Grahame and Ollie Welch scored for the Port.

Rainhill Town Res. posted a 2-0 result at Poulton Vics, but goals from John Skipsey and Dean Massey  were insufficient, as Great Sutton lost 3-2 to efforts from Helsby Res., Sam Telford, Jordan Dwyer and Jaden Ditchfield.

A 7-1 win at Litherland Remyca, which featured efforts from Bobby Connor (3) Cohan Campbell (2) Dylan Cogley and Elliot Holmes ensured that AFC Knowsley retained top spot in the Youth Division on goal difference. Rex Odeh bagged Remya's consolation.
In hot pursuit are nearest rivals, Cammell Laird 1907, Leo Patton (2) Jack Gordon (2) Bobby Barker and Ted Galer making the scoresheet in a 6-3 win at Neston Nomads, who scored through Callum Spence (2) and Zach Dean.
Lewis Greenhalgh found the net for West Kirby Utd. but finished on the losing side against South Liverpool, who emerged 4-1 victors thanks to efforts from Finlay Batterton (2) Kian Skinley and an own goal.

It was a first win of the season for Runcorn Linnets who beat Vauxhall Motors 3-1 with goals from Lewis Crane (2) and Emil Nyambe, Josh Jeffery netting for Motors, while Maghull B took bragging rights from their derby clash with Maghull, Adam Ross (2) John Clarkson, Khai Deary and Jack Jenkinson applying the finishing touches for the hosts in a 5-1 result.
Elsewhere, Luke Parry and Isiah  Embeguonye struck to earn Athletico Blues a 2-1 victory over Mossley Hill Ath. who had Ethan Cain in response.

Commiserations to Division One outfit, Ashville Res., whose progress in the Cheshire County FA Amateur Cup was cut short by Cheadle Heath Nomads Res. as a result of Saturday's 4-1 first round defeat. Danny Whitehead was Ashville's marksman.
