"Get in!" Goal for Kaiser

Andrew Gethin scored a fantastic drop volley from the edge of the area that went in off the crossbar to open the scoring for Kaiser Wessex on Sunday, writes Tony Spencer. Tron hit back with replies from Michael Moray and Nathan Rae before half-time to wrest a 1-2 lead. In an evenly matched second half, the Division 1 points were eventually shared in a 2-2 result after substitute Ashley Russell equalised with his first touch. Kaiser Wessex remain unbeaten at home, while Tron have extended their unbeaten run to four games.

Oakley suffered their fourth straight defeat, despite Sean Condon's home equaliser, after initially falling a goal behind to Lamb Inn. The visitors remain unbeaten, with goals from Harry Roach, who netted the opener and Ben Nicholls bagging the winner in a one-on-one with the keeper at the back post. Final score 1-2.

South View started off well, with Miles Englefield and Ash Roberts scoring in the 10th and 20th minutes, with Spencer Champ pulling one back in between for Soldiers Return with a header that went in off a defender, 2-1. The visitors levelled on the half-hour with a 25-yard strike from Warren Hill, before Andy Butler edged the visitors ahead 2-3 by half-time. The match was close fought in the second half as South View pressed for an equaliser, before Alex Izzo scored two late goals in the 78th and 85th minutes to finish with a slightly flattering 2-5 result. This was a fourth straight defeat for struggling South View, while Soldiers Return go back to winning ways.

Basingstoke Saints travelled to Winchester League side Halfway United in the North Hants Senior Cup, but only had a bare 11 men available. Saints created the better chances in the first half but unable to convert any, going into the dressing room at the interval two goals behind. The lack of substitutes told as they struggled in the second half as they carried a couple of injuries, going down 8-0 to Halfway United by the close.


It was first against second in Division 2, with leaders FC Everest emphatically beating New Inn 8-0. FC Everest are still unbeaten, this being their biggest victory and first clean sheet. This was New Inn's heaviest defeat.

Hampshire Irons opened the scoring against RAF Odiham Blades with a through ball from left back Jack Williams to Tom Cornick on his debut. Rob Mead scored with a left wing cross-cum-shot for the second. Alex Bundle scored the third after coming on as substitute with his first touch and Tom Chant rounded off the score to 0-4 with a 30-yard shot into the bottom corner of the net.

UWS celebrated their first home win and going second in the table with a 5-1 victory over Oakley Reserves. The visitors suffered their fourth straight defeat.

North Warnborough Two were unable to field a team to travel to Chineham due to injuries, suspensions and work commitments.

AFC Golden Lion lost their Division 3 match against visitors Chineham Reserves 0-4, who are now unbeaten in three games, scorers Joe Marsh, Kyle Buckland, with a brace, and Jimmy Buckland.

Basing United are back into winning ways with a 4-3 home victory over Eastrop Eagles, who suffered their first defeat of the season.

Thanks to a Ritchie Budd penalty, DG Athletic avoided a whitewash, but still went down 1-10 at home to Team FC.

Soldiers Return Reserves took thirty minutes before opening the scoring when Joe Allnutt's cross was deflected by a defender into the net for an own goal. Two minutes later, the feat was repeated, this time from a cross by Powell Derbot, which remained 2-0 until half-time. Chineham Athletic pressed hard in the second half to get back on terms, but it was Derbot's second goal which stretched the hosts' lead to 3-0, on a 55 minute breakaway. The visitor's continued to press and clawed the score back to 3-2, with strikes from Ollie Owen and Elvinder Sangha. The result was settled with five minutes left, a breakaway and cross by Derbot and Joss Buckingham pounced to put away after the keeper fumbled the cross. Final score 4-2 meant four straight victories for Soldiers Return Reserves.
