Basingstoke B Cup Semi Final
Herriard Sports are through to the Final of the Basingstoke B Cup after beating Winklebury Wizards 5-1.. After postponements and an abandoned game at half time, this Semi Final was at last played at Brighton Hill and although the final score looks like a hammering, in fact Wizards were leading 1-0 at half time. The goal came from a header by Aaron Barton following a free kick taken by Dan Goodyear in the 16th minute. It was in the 60th when Herriard drew level. Chris Dobbie found Alex Roberts and his pin point pass found Sam Weber and following a strong run, he netted with a low shot. In the 66th they took then lead when Roberts volleyed home from 25 yards out after a good ball from Craig Hine. In the 70th it became 3-1. Matt Goodman with the free kick, a flick on by Dobbie and Winklebury defender Dean Scott headed into his own goal. In the 80th a good movement up field between Karl Buttle, Roberts and Weber was finished off with Dobbie finding the corner of the net. With five minutes left came the final goal. A dazzling run by Weber who dribbled past four men and his final pass handed Dobbie his second. The Final is being played at Winklebury on Saturday 29th April. Kick off 6.30 p.m. with Basingstoke Labour Club the other finalists.
Peter Raynbird Cup Semi Final
It is Bounty United who will meet D.C.U.K. in the Final of the Peter Raynbird Cup on Saturday 8th April at Winklebury. Kick off 6.30 p.m. They met bottom of the Division One table Basingstoke Athletic who were missing several regulars, including their regular keeper, hence the 8-2 defeat. It took Bounty just ten minutes to take the lead when their Player/Manager Jordon Willis, with an assist by Simon Farrell and it was Farrell with the pass for Jordon Wainwright to make it 2-0 in the tenth. Athletic had a good deal of the ball and in the 30th Ryan Evans pulled a goal back for them. Two minutes into the second half Athletic coincided another, this time it was an own goal when Ronnie Tamale sliced a clearance into the net. Andy Neal put away a cross from Wainwright for a 4-1 lead and Farrell added a fifth before Evans netted his and the second for Athletic. Craig Williamson made it 6-2 and late goals from Willis and Neal ended the rout.
Basingstoke Saturday League
Division One.
DCUK expected to win this Division One game at Aldermaston, but when they were trailing 3-1 at half time, a shock result looked on. In the end the visitors won 4-3 to push them into Joint second place in the Division One table. A lofted shot by Michael Porter saw AFC Aldermaston Reserves leading early, but Finlay Hall equalised in the 16th minute. In the 33rd a disputed second for Aldermaston when a shot from Jake Thain hit the inside of the post and rebounded along the goal line. The goal was given and then in the 41st came the third. Chris Allen was brought down in the box and a penalty was awarded. The Aldermaston man retaliated to the tackle with an alleged head butt and was sent off. Rico Francis put away the spot kick for the two goal advantage. Now down to ten men for the whole of the second half Aldermaston were on the defensive and Shaun Searle headed home a cross from Harry Rudge to reduce the deficit and a header from Ashley Elward was half saved and Ben Nicholls put away the rebound to see them level. It was Stuart Austen with the winner in the closing stages.
Division Two.
Overton United B lost their chance to make up some ground on the Division Two leaders Herriard Sports, but failed to beat lowly placed Longdog Soldiers by only drawing 1-1 at Berrydown. It was a great result for Longdog, who only had their second win last week and are fast improving. It was Sam Mosdell with their goal in the 20th minute after a shot by Sam Trodd rebounded out and he buried the chance from 25 yards out. It was a case of holding out in the second half when Overton hit the bar and were well on top and a fine save by Jake Barnes from a Kyle Buckland penalty kick. The equaliser came after much pressure, when in the 77th minute Warren Clarke finished off a move by Josh Smith.
The wind made play difficult in the clash between Basingstoke Labour Club and AFC Berg, with a 1-1 draw the final result. It was Berg taking the lead in the 28th minute with a 30 yard shot from Mason Saunders. Labour dominated the second half, but could only come up with the one goal, scored by Mark Thorpe in the 70th after an assist from Ibrahian Waheed and Arron Johns.
Basement club Chineham put on a decent performance against Twentyten Reserves, but in the end they went down losing 2-1. They in fact went in front after 22 minutes when Ben Cronin played a one two with Euginio Carrasco, who went on a dribble and took on the keeper to score the opener. Both teams created chances and in the 29th came the equaliser. A corner kick was taken by Mark Smith and was poked home by Jack Barrett. The decider came as early as the 49th minute when Franklin Spacagna curled a nice shot to beat the diving keeper.

Basingstoke A Cup Final.
Hook 4 Tadley Calleva A 1.
There were 250 spectators at the Winklebury Football Complex on Saturday evening to see the Basingstoke A cup Final. Most were from Tadley, but they went home disappointed after the Tadley Calleva A team lost 4-1. The final score bears no reflection on the game, although Hook did deserve to win the cup for the third year running, With only 14 minutes left to play the score was only 1-0 and it looked anyone’s game, but Hook were deserved winners. The Hook goal came as early as the 3rd minute when Ashley Saunders failed to clear a long clearance up field from Kieran Farmer, it appeared to put keeper Gary Harper in two minds and in nipped Andy Parker to go round him and place into the empty net. Tadley came back strongly with a diving header from Kye Theodore just wide following a good cross from Stephen (Stumpy) Burgess, who was industrious all through the game in midfield. Peter White then headed a good chance over the bar and in the 35th had a great effort blocked on the line and then forced a save from the rebound.
Hook responded before the break when Dan Mouradian saw his goal bound shot deflected wide and in the 43rd minute James Neville tried a neat lob only for keeper Harper to brilliantly get back to tip over the bar an d just before the break a shot from Dan Framp hit the post.
