Hampshire Irons and Twentyten will contest the May Cup Final at Whitchurch on Tuesday 14th April KO 7.30 p.m.

The Semi Finals of both the North Hants May and Junior Cups were played and it will be an all Basingstoke League Final and the May Cup and Overton United A are in the Final of the Junior Cup.
Hampshire Irons and Twentyten will contest the May Cup Final at Whitchurch on Tuesday 14th April KO 7.30 p.m. Irons had to go to a penalty shootout to resolve their Semi Final against Reading League side Baughurst AFC . James and Chris Arnold and also Kieran Dent missed chances to have won in the 90 minutes, but when no goals came in extra time the penalty shootout came. Baughurst missed their first and after James Arnold put Irons in front the spot kick from Steve Tickner was saved. Chris Dobbie, Simon Head and Rob Mead were successful and with Baughurst shooting wide Kieran Dent had to convert to see Irons through. He made no mistake to go through 5-4 winners.
Twentyten had a more straightforward 3-1 win against Andover League opposition New Street Swifts. A crisp cross shot from Joe Osborne deceived thr keeper and ended up in the top corner of the net for the Twentyten lead, but an error at the back led to Ben Hammett-Brady equalizing three minutes into the second half. A strong header from Matt Tamage was parried by the keeper and Joe Hill pounced on the rebound to make it 2-1 and in then 75th minute it was game, set and match when Jordon Wainwright dribbled past three men and thumped in a great third.

Overton United A are through to their second cup final after beating North Warnborough 5-0 in the Semi Final of the North Hants Junior Cup Manager Danny Smith made a brave move in only the second minute when he pulled off Gus Reis and coming on himself, explaining it was to stop Reis getting himself sent off. Borough were slightly better than the previous week when they were beaten 8-1 by Overton in the league, but in the tenth minute their keeper Brian Mathews could only half save a shot from Silani Thomas and Matty Wilson followed up to net. It became 2-0 and in the 30th when Wilson played Thomas through and by the break a free kick from Wilson was headed home by Charlie Palmer. Brian Thorpe forced a couple of decent saves from the Overton keeper, but John Gurney made it 4-0 and Thomas intercepted a pass back to net the fifth. . It is Andover League club Kingsclere who they will meet in the Final at Whithchurch on Tuesday 31st March at 7.30 p.m. after they defeated Kings Somborne 4-0 in the Semi Final.

The top of the Premier Division clash between Basingstoke Royals and Rising Sun DC ended with Royals 2-0 winners and now lead the table by a formidable eight points and remain unbeaten in the league. Steven Price scored both. It was not until the 60th minute when the deadlock was broken when Price slid in to convert a low cross from James McIntosh. A vital save by Richard Munday stopped Joe Hill equalizing from a free kick, but in the 85th minute came the second to seal Rising Sun’s fate. McIntosh involved again, this time his chip was cleared off the line and fell to Price, some 25 yards out and his shot found the back of the net. Any hopes Hook had of the title has disappeared after they were beaten 5-2 away to Tadley Calleva A. Stephen Burgess gave Tadley a 34th minute lead and although Stacey Harris forced a good save from Tom Monger in the 45th Tadley extended their lead in the 58th when Andy Johnson beat Greg Archer from 20 yards out. Jon Noakes hit the pot for Hook, but on cam sub. Simon Penfold to make it 3-0 from a Gary Hibbs corner kick. It was not until the 83rd when Andy Parker converted a penalty for Hook, but in added time three more goals were to come. Kye Theodore made it 4-1, Noakes scored for Hook from a pass by Aaron King and Luke Walkley the fifth for Tadley. The Bramley pitch was rules waterlogged, so their home game against Sherborne St John was postponed.

It is still very tight at the top of Division Two. The leaders Basingstoke Athletic registered their tenth win in twelve starts disposing of AFC Aldermaston A with a 4-1 win. Dale Bristow set up the 25 yard opener for Ryan Evans in the 15th minute and it was soon 2-0 when a long clearance from keeper Sean Martin ended in Bristow beating keeper Darren Heath. Aldermaston came back with a goal before half time, when a sloppy back pass from Lee O’Grady eluded Martin. Evans scored his second from a direct free kick and Bristow added a fourth when put through by James Lounton.
Basingstoke Laboiur Club moved up to level points with the leaders following a 1-0 win against Winklebury Wizards. This was the first defeat in the league for Tommy Clegg’s youngsters, who moved up from Boys football this season. The decider came after 23 minutes when a ball over the top from Josh Bundock was chased by Cameron George, who has been a revelation for manager Dan Poulter this season and he ran through to net his 16th of the season. Bundock was unlucky not to have made it two in the 33rd when his oob beat Alexander, hit the underside of the bar and was cleared. Wizards had their moments with Sam White in the Labour goal saving well from efforts by Conner Stratton and Ryan Watts and as they pressed, the best save of the match came in the 65th when Dan Goodyear found Josh Dickens and White was equal to his on target shot. Bounty United had their game against bottom club Sherborne Reserves called off with an unfit pitch, they slip down to third. This Saturday Bounty takes on Basingstoke Athletic at Castle Fields and the outcome could be a title decider. Overton United B are in danger of ending up in the bottom two after losing 2-0 to Basingstoke United. They have now picked up only two points in their last eight matches. It was Jay Butt with the first in the 30th minute after being put through by Cullum Silcox.. Overton had chances but James Sallows with two good saves kept his goal intact and in the 89th minute came the second for United, when a corner kick taken by Dan Southgate eluded all in the box and ended up in the net. Preston Candiver signed three players before the game and ended up with a 1-1 draw against Herriard Sports. It was regular Paul Eldridge who gave them the lead in the 26th minute following a cross from Tom Greeen. Theyr dominated play for long period and only fine saves from keeper John Hammill stopped them equalizing. There was ten minutes left when Herriard did level the scores. Adam Francis with the spade work and a fine volley from Craig Lewington proved too got for keeper Dean Elsgood. Lewington almost won the game in the final minute when his shot was cleared off the line.
