Here is the eighth edition of this season's 'Worcester League News'.
Hi everyone - and a belated Happy New Year !
Lots to tell you and first of all some important news ..........
************** New Venue for Delegates Meetings ***************
Yes, after more years than anyone can remember we are leaving Archdales, who quite frankly have messed us about with availability - it would appear that Salsa dancing is more of a priority ! Anyway, enough of that, the new venue, starting with our next meeting on Monday 14th February is ..............
*********** CLAINES ROYAL BRITISH LEGION CLUB **********
Cornmeadow Lane, Claines, Worcester
If you don't know where that is, stick WR3 7PL in your Sat Nav - it's right next to the football pitch ! If you're still struggling, give me a ring.
FIXTURES: Bob has been sunning himself in the Bahamas and I'm told he has finally tied the knot with his beloved, to whom we offer our commiserations. In his absence Jeff has hopefully got the website up to date (with a little bit of help - you know who you are !), so you should know who you are playing in the next few weeks. Having said that we are aware that there are other potential fixtures that could be arranged. Could I ask each club to have a look at who they haven't played yet and if you think we may be able to fit a fixture in earlier rather than later, then please get in touch with Bob and Jeff.
EXTENSION TO THE SEASON: Due to the bad weather over Christmas/New Year, the WFA have granted us a two week extension to the season which will now end on Sunday 22nd May. Also, expect some evening fixtures from the beginning of April. This will be the second season running that the season has been extended and we discussed at our Management Committee meeting the other night, the possibility of starting the season a couple of weeks earlier in future - your views on this subject are welcomed.
One final thing on fixtures - due to the amount of outstanding fixtures caused by the bad weather (we lost over 200), please note that we will not be accepting any more closed dates for the remainder of the season.
BAYLIS & PHIPPS CUPS: The qualification round for these two competitions has now been played and the draw for the first round proper is as follows; -
Baylis Cup - Hallow v University of Worcester
Malvern Rangers v Newtown Sports
Malvern Town Reserves v Powick
Bye - VBL Sports
Semi-final - VBL Sports v Hallow or University of Worcester
Powick or Malvern Town Reserves v Malvern Rangers or Newtown Sports
Phipps Cup - Northway v GDL Athletic
West Malvern v Worcester Anchors
YM Rangers v Perrywood
Bye - Worcester Raiders
Semi-final - Northway or GDL Athletic v Worcester Raiders
West Malvern or Worcester Anchors v YM Rangers or Perrywood
Dates for these matches to be notified.
REGISTRATIONS: Since my last NEWS, I can confirm that Alma F.C. have withdrawn from the League and their Sunday Division 4 record has been expunged. Any outstanding fines or monies owed have now been paid and their registered players are now free to join other clubs.
Internal cup competitions - Can I remind all clubs to read the registration rules regarding these competitions carefully (pages 57 and 57 of the League Handbook.) You cannot make emergency signings on the day for any of these competitions !
A reminder that the transfer deadline is 31st March.

However, although referee marks have all been received on time, a growing number of you seem to waiting for my Thursday reminder before you are stung into action ! There is no obligation on my part to send this reminder so please submit your marks early (the sooner after the match the better before you forget) otherwise you could be heading for a fine !!
That's all I can think of at the moment, don't forget we have a new venue for the next Delegates meeting on Monday 14th February
