Beacon Hill Rovers Res. see off local rivals to win the Cup
Following weeks of dry weather Witham Town pitch took a drenching and at one point during the day the game was in doubt. Added to that a strong wind made conditions extremely difficult for both sides.
Both teams had received a reprieve in the competition having been defeated in the semi-finals rule breaches led to their reinstatement.
Kenson started brightly and were denied an early goal when Steven Shelley was adjudged to be off side. Within 13 minutes Kenson took the lead when a long throw from the left by Adam Green was met by Will Ritchie who guided his header into the far corner of the net.
After 17 minutes Beacon Hill were level, the Assistant Referee saw an infringement inside the penalty award and the Referee pointed to the spot. Up stepped Matt Surridge to coolly slot the ball home.
The game then ebbed and flowed. Beacon Hills Harry Hart forced a good save low down by Kenson keeper Olly Bailey at the mid-point of the half. Jack Smith and Matt Russell then combined only for the Kenson striker to be denied by the alertness of Peter Ellis as he rushed from his line to smother the ball.
Surridge then forced another good save from Bailey. From the resulting corner Michael Baker flicked on at the near post where Tyson Browning was hand to nod home to put Beacon Hill 2-1 up.
