In the Premier division Pac Builders put up a brave fight before going down 2-0 to last years champions Boldon Shack. The first half was an even affair with both keepers, Brett Wilson for Pac and Jonathan Carmichael for Shack pulling off a string of remarkable saves to send the game into the break score less. The second half continued in the same fashion until Pac thought they had broken the deadlock only for a late offside whistle curbed their celebrations. The deadlock was broken moments later when Mark Robinson broke through the defence to put Shack ahead. The game was finally settled when sub Andrew Bonar finished off some good work from Wayne Phillips to seal a 2-0 victory for Shack.
Brighams went down to Elmfield in an amazing game. Elmfield took an early lead through Chris McDonald. Brighams pressed hard for an equalizer, which eventually came from Steven Williams. A pivotal point in the game towards the end of the first half when Brighams right back Alan Anderson was sent off for hand ball on the line, the resultant penalty saw Joe McCaffrey give Elmfield a 2-1 lead at the break. The second half saw Brighams pile on the pressure and eventually eqalise and then take 3-2 lead with two very well taken goals from Michael Meek. However having used all this effort and with the disadvantage of being a man down Brighams simply folded and Elmfield scored a further five goals through, Chris McDonald, Joe McCaffrey and a fine hat trick from Steve Cockburn to run out 7-3 winners.
In the A division newly promoted Boldon Colts made it two wins out of two with a 4-1 victory over Simonside SC. Simonside went ahead against the run of play when Glen Cooper followed up to tap in after Colts keeper Alan Greenham had made a brave save. Boldon leveled before the break as Shaun Carroll scored his first of three. Sima raised their game in the second half but found Boldon defence hard to crack, as they tired Boldon grew stronger and it was no surprise when Boldon took the lead through Johnny ward. Carrol then added a further two goals to complete his hat trick and make sure Boldon Colts got all three points.
