Hampshire Junior A Cup Third Round
Tadley Calleva A returned from the IOW triumphant by beating Newchurch on penalties in their much-postponed Hampshire Junior A Cup tie and it earned them a home in Round Four this Saturday against AFC Hiltingbury from Southampton. They took the lead in the 15th minutes when Louis Davies raced down the wing, his cross fell to Bradley Cox and from the edge of the box he found the bottom corner. Newchurch equalised in added time in the first half from a harsh looking hand ball penalty decision. It remained at 1-1 until the 89th minute when Bradley Nash, who had come on as substitute, was brought down on the edge of the box and Charlie Neville’s free kick put them back in front. Again, it was added time when Newchurch drew level and this brought a penalty shoot-out. Stand in goalkeeper Jack Jones was then to become the hero and match winner. Not only was he one of the penalty takers and converted, he also made the vital save from the fourth that saw Tadley 4-3 winners. The other two penalties came from Cox, Neville and Lee Calcutt, the fourth and decider.
Hampshire Junior B Cup Semi Final.
It will be no Basingstoke team in the Hampshire Junior B Cup this season, as Basingstoke Athletic were knocked out at home to Portsmouth visitors Coal Exchange 3-0. Chances were limited for rusty looking Athletic, who conceded in the 30th minute with a header that beat keeper James Lounton. The visitors were a very experienced side and took advantage of mistakes at the back to go 2-0 ahead in the 70th. Lounton came out of goal to add to the attack and almost scored with a lob the keeper did well to keep out, but a third came to ensure no come back.
Basingstoke A Cup Quarter Final
Herriard Sports were reduced to ten men after two of their players were injured in the warm-up, hence a 10-0 Basingstoke A Cup defeat against visiting Silchester Village, who will now meet Twentyten in the Semi Final at home. Matt Watson, in the home goal made some very good saves as Herriard held them to just 2-0 at the break. An onslaught in the opening 15 minutes of the second half second half saw Silchester score six more. Their goals came via a hat trick for Kye Theodore, two for Jason Graham , a own goal from Jason Minton and singles for Jack Nisbet, Cullum Tire, Jordon Ingram and Alan Hibbs
Basingstoke Saturday League
Division One.
Hook suffered their second League defeat of the season, beaten 1-0 by AFC Berg, and removes them from top spot in the Division One table and are now replaced by their latest opponents. It was competitive throughout, with Berg having a good first half and unlucky when a great strike by Reece Chapman hit the bar. For Hook Tedroy Ricketts, following a fine cross from Dan Alliston went close before going off injured and soon after in the 70th minute, came the winner. Berg were awarded a free kick, some 25 yards out and Ashley Elward’s well placed shot proved too good for the Greg Archer.. . .
AFC Aldermaston Reserves ended up comfortable 5-2 winners against Overton United A. It took Aldermaston seven minutes to open their account, James Porter from a Ryan Alexander assist. Alex Dumbuya-Fillie made it 2-0 by the 15th, but Overton hit back in the 35th when Scotty Winterbourne lobbed the keeper after a header from Craig Smith. Two quick goals in the second half, scored by Dumbuya-Fillie and Alexander gave them a 4-1 advantage, but back came Overton with another from Winterbourne from a good move by Steve Bonner. A powerful low shot from Martin King from a Chris Allen corner saw Aldermaston regain control and seal the points. Gregor Restell who has taken over the Overton third string, was pleased his players never gave up after the early second half goals.
Division Two
Renegades remain top of the Division One table after beating AFC Berg Reserves 5-0, with a hat trick from Ricky Smith. Before taking a 25th minutes lead through Smith, Matty Baker had hit the bar twice. .Smith then added another and it became 4-0 at the break when George Lagden helped himself to a brace, following assists from Ian Ryan and Baker. Substitute Jamie Perryman and Johnny Gurney did have chances and Renegades Manager Mark Burchett named his goalkeeper Luke Simpson as his Man of the match. His side were s superior in most departments and the fourth came two minutes from the end when Ashley Burchett played Smith through for his third.
Overton United B keeps hot on the heels of the leaders, a point adrift after a 9-0 win against North Warnborough. Bailey Roffey put them two goals up following assists by Oliver Parker and Ross Soper-Dyer by half time. The Borough defence could not stop a resilient Overton attack after the break when Louis McCann scored a hat trick, two for Kevin Beaumont and singles for Andy Bullock and Steve Caswell as they overwhelmed Borough, who included three 16-year olds.
Following three straight wins, Chineham lost 5-1 against Twentyten Reserves, when Stephen Dean scored four times. The opener after ten minutes was set up by Jack Hulbert and the deflected shot gave keeper Alex Copeman no chance. Chineham held them until the 43rd minute when a looping cross cum shot from Dean again proved too good for the keeper. Chineham were still in the game and in the 65th minute Connor Coleman headed home a corner taken by Tobi Judd. It remained at 2-1 until the 80th minute when a mistimed tackle on Franklin Spacagna brought a penalty kick and Dean dispatched it with no problem for his straight hat trick and then he went on a solo run to score again. The fifth came two minutes from time when a shot from Jack Hulbert, punched into the net by the keeper.
