Division One

D.C.U.K. moves to the top of Division One after beating Basingstoke United 4-1. United led the division earlier in the season and took a 20th minute lead when Ash Pearce put away a pass from Reese Chapman. DC drew level ten minutes later through Jamie Ballantyne from a headed pass from Stuart Austen. Before half time teenager Trent Barrington headed home a Johnnie Ervine cross to lead. It was In the 65th when a curl back by Lorne Howard led to Ballantyne scoring his second and remaining in control the fourth came when a long clearance kick from keeper Darren Collins was picked up by Harry Rudge who beat Jimmy Sallows with a well placed finish.

It was a close affair at Barlow’s Park where Twentyten won a hard fought battle with Tadley Calleva A and won 5-4, with the winner in the final few minutes scored by Joe Osborne. Joe Hill put the visitors in front in just 30 seconds, but within two minutes Tadlley drew level when Kye Theodore netted following a Lee Champion long throw.

Twentyten came back strongly and by half time they led 3-1, goals from James Arnold and Hill his second. Soon after half time Champion put away a free kick and Tadley then drew level through Theodore. Gary Hicks then nosed Tadley in from with still 30 minutes to play. They could not hold it for long as Hill completed his hat trick to level. Tadley then had Stephen ( Stumpy) Burgess sent off, just two weeks after he returned from a suspension left over from last season and his side battled to hold on to their points. It ended in failure when a terrible defensive error allowed Joe Osborne to run from the half way line and go on to chip the keeper.

The big game was at Bramley where Basingstoke Royals took on Hook and lost 2-1. Hook were not at full strength and Manager Humphrey Simms had to play in goal. Royals were not great in the first half and fell behind when Tom Davies was on the end of a pass from Andy Parker and scored from close. Royals hit the bar, but it was an own goal that brought them level. A through ball from Craig Barker was diverted into his own goal by Morgan Davies. Steve Price looked to have given Royals the lead with fine shot on the turn, but Simms threw himself across goal to pull off an outstanding save and although Royals dominated play with Price again hitting the bar, the winner came in the 85th when following a Royals corner Parker broke away and pulled back a good ball for Daniel Mouradian, to net.

Bounty United picked up their first point of the season since promotion with a 3-3 draw against visitors Basingstoke Athletic, who were also pointless. Bounty swept onto a two goal lead, both scored by Matt Love. Jordon Wainwright provided the first after 15 minutes and five minute later a shot by Wainwright was parried by the keeper and Love was on hand to net the rebound. Athletic came back to level by the break, both scored by Ryan Evans. Love completed his strait hat trick with a header from a Jordon Willis cross, but as the game progressed they went down to ten men through injury and all subs used. They could not hold out and in the last minute Nathan Read came up with the equalizer from a Ryan Evans assist.

Peter Raynbird Cup First Round

An incorrect decision by Referee Olu Oyewole, not to play extra time in the Peter Raynbird Cup tie between Herriard Sports and Basingstoke Labour Club, means the match will have to be replayed. After the ninety minutes was up the scores were level at 3-3 and the referee then ordered a penalty shootout straight away to take place and Herriard won 7-6. It was however a very entertaining game, with Chris Dobbie giving Herriard the lead and Karl Buttle making it 2-0. Goals from Jack Barlow and a Matt Kelly penalty made it 2-2 at the break and then in the 83rd minute Mark West gave Labour the lead. With three minutes left of the ninety Stephen Wood came up with the equalizer from a Matt Goodman corner. In the shootout, all were converted, apart from the spo kick taken by Labour’s Josh Dickens.

Overton United B won through, beating AFC Aldermaston A away 2-1. They conceded a penalty in the 25th minute with a push and Carl Allen converted. It was all Overton and only a series of fine saves from Matt Desay, from efforts by Richard Budd, and Scotty Winerbourne and a penalty save, held them up until the 55th minute when Jamie Smith went on a solo run and beat him to level. Adter this the Aldermaston defence held out until the 90th minute when Ben Wootton was at the back post to volley in the winner.

Origin are still looking for their first win after being beaten 3-0 by Twentyten Reserves. Origin Player/Manager Dave Hawkins, who continues to keep goal, was encouraged to see his team keep a clean sheet until into the second half when Tom Roworth opened the scoring from a Dan Hancock assist. Jack Barrett made it 2-0 from a Mark Smith corner and Hancock was at the far post to score the third after good inter-play by Roworth and Graham Jenkins.

AFC Berg pulled off surprise 4-0 win against second in the table Winklebury Wizards. The opener came in the 26th minute when a ball over the top from Jay Greene was picked up at the back post and put away by Carl Gonzales. Wizards has a good chance to level when Scoot Large was clear through but unable to beat the keeper who did well stop his shot. Kieran Alleyne made it 2-0 and Wizards had no answer with Berg making it 4-0 at the break through Graham Dwyer and Alleyne scoring his second. Wizards had a better second half and forced several corners, but no real chances to pull the game their way.

Chineham appear to have got things together and now have a 21 man squad and cruised through to the second round with a 6-0 win over Longdog Soldiers. It was an impressive game for Luke Russell who scored four of the goals as they ran riot in the second half. It was Russell with the first after 16 minutes from a flick on by Ben Cronin. It was an even contest until the 55th minute when Russell sent through a good ball for Anthony Hosey to make it 2-0 and after this it was the Russell’s show. It was In the 66th when he netted his second after the keeper mishandled and then completed his hat trick with an assist from Euginio Carrasco and his fourth came via a cross from Fin Thompson. The final goal was scored by Luke’s brother full back Ashley, who moved up front and put away a cross from Hugo Carlos.
