A Cup Final Preview of New Inn Newton FC
Playing in Blue/Black striped Shirts with Black Shorts and Socks
A pre season back room shuffle meant that after 4 years of playing for the club both Gary Wilkinson and Steven Webster took on the task of running New Inn Newton. Surely an easy job with a team full of friends. Not necessarily... Whether it is having to deal with the 'opinionated' White twins, the busy social life of Nathan Hadley or Brett Gibb trying to convince people he is a striker, the season has caused headaches for both. However, with a settled team, this club is capable of playing some very neat football, scoring the goals they need and entertaining those that watch.
After a nail biting semi final in which the team won on penalties, everyone knows what to expect from this one off game and are ready for the challenge awaiting them. With an average age in the mid 20'2 (no help from Gareth Reilly there) and most players playing together for a good few years, it is a tight knit sward with a desire to win. The clubs first cup final will be seen by most as an achievement and building on this an even stronger campaign next year is on the cards.
