WINDSOR FOODSERVICE CENTRAL MIDLANDS LEAGUE REVIEW - OCTOBER 12th  With County Cup competitions dominating the fixture list, league matches were few and far between this afternoon.                                                      There were just three games in the Black Dragon Badges North division, but they produced 21 goals between them. Westella Hanson are the new leaders following a 3-2 win at third place Harworth Colliery. Tom Walker for Harworth and Bobby Stevenson for the visitors made it level at the break, but two in two minutes from Joe Norton and Michael Hewitt gave Westella the advantage. Ollie Chappell pulled one back, but the East Yorkshire side held out for the three points. Brinsworth was the place for goals, as Phoenix moved up to third after a 6-4 win over Askern. Sam Hadfield and Rob Gorman both scored twice for the home side with Sohail Hussain and Steve Spence adding one each. For Askern, Steve Athey grabbed a hat-trick, Ethan Webster also on the scoresheet. Kinsley Boys’ Craig Rouse was on target again, scoring two of their goals in a 4-2 defeat of Bentley Colliery. Mark Lafferty and Jack Owen got the other two, with Sean Sly and Lee Drobac netting for Bentley. Only one game in the Black Dragon Badges South division, and Clifton All Whites extended their lead at the top to eight points with a 4-1 win at struggling Linby Colliery. Three up at the break, the Clifton goals came from Rob Gill (2), Connor Hardy and Aaron Large, Kyle McDermott with Linby’s reply. Rainworth Miners Welfare goal machine Liam Theakston took his total to 17 as he scored both of his side’s goals in their 2-0 win at Graham St Prims, a result which extends Rainworth’s lead at the top to four points. Second place Dronfield Town drew 1-1 at Holbrook Sports, Mark Szuta on target for Holbrook, Charles Bradwell for Dronfield. Borrowash Victoria had a 3-2 win at Dunkirk with Callum Holler (2) and Scott Staniland the scorers, while Alex Elliker and Kyle Pemberton replied for Dunkirk. Teversal achieved the same winning score at Long Eaton United, their goals coming from Ryan Williams, Radislav Kinaev and Simon Groves, Long Eaton’s from Kurt Dallison and James Clarke. Calverton Miners Welfare beat Radford by four goals to two. Sherwood Colliery are the new leaders of the Reserve Premier division after a 2-1 win at Newark Town thanks to Darren Hibberd and Ashley Giugno, while Jake Reynolds kept up his record of scoring in each of Newark’s games this season. South Normanton lost their 100% record, going down 4-0 at Belper United to goals from Ross Layton, Connor Peat, James Harrison and Daniel Griffin. Allenton United go second, with a 4-2 win over Welbeck Welfare, Ross Lloyd scoring twice, Tremayne Anderson and Paul Tyers getting one apiece. Mickleover Royals squeezed past Blidworth Welfare 4-3, the scorers here were Daniel Beresford (2), Romeo Mugadza and Matthew Boone for Royals, Roger Brailsford (2) and Kurtis Bamford with a penalty for the visitors. A Guy Wilding hat trick gave Swanwick Pentrich Road the points at home to Pinxton, the final score 3-2, with Jamie Mawdsley getting both for Pinxton. Stand-out result in the Notts FA Senior Cup was at Eagle Valley, where Bilborough Pelican knocked out level 6 side Arnold. Two goals for Carey Knight and one from Joe Ashurst saw Pelican through to round two. Just as eye-catching was the result at Southwell City where the home side continued their good form with a 7-0 hammering of Ollerton Town. Liam Webster led the way with a hat trick, Stef Whitely added two and there were also goals for Tyrone Gray and Marlon Waites. AFC Mansfield beat Notts Senior League leaders Hucknall Rolls 4-0, a Dean Rick hat trick and Callum Green separating the sides. Despite a great improvement Welbeck Welfare went out of the competition 2-0 to Hucknall Town, whose goals came from Tristan Spencer and Josh Henry. A poor performance from Newark Town saw them beaten 2-0 at home by Attenborough, while earlier in the week, Real United and Calverton Miners Welfare both went out by the same score at Radcliffe Olympic and Teversal respectively. A great result for Holbrook St Michaels in the Derbyshire FA Senior Cup, a Chris Saunders goal giving them a 1-0 win over neighbours Holbrook Sports of the East Midlands Counties League. Another local derby saw Mickleover RBL avenge their earlier league defeat with a three goal win over Mickleover Royals, with Gavin Whitehead, Charles Salloway and Immanuel Freeman establishing the local bragging rights for the Legion. Belper United reached the second round for the first time, seeing off Clay Cross Town 4-1 at Christchurch Meadow. Luke Crosby’s hat trick and one from Josh Wisdom were the match winners, Ant Lynam on target for Clay Cross. It was the same score at Wharf Road where Wayne Cooke, Michael Taylor, Jay Cooper and Jason Dawson were Pinxton’s marksmen against Allenton United, whose solitary reply came from Troy Black. The game between South Normanton Athletic and Swanwick Pentrich Road went all the way to penalties, the Shiners coming out on top 7-6 after it finished one all in normal time, Ben Greenhalgh with the home side’s goal. Barrowby put their league form behind them with a resounding 6-1 win in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup over Scunthorpe side Messingham Juniors, the goals coming from Barry Paine (2), Liam Warner, Daniel McDonald, James Loveridge and Billy Stubbs. In the Derbyshire Divisional Cup Steven Mansell and Matthew Wilkinson put Matlock Town through 2-1 against Baslow, Heanor Town having beaten Ambergate 4-0 on Wednesday night. Harworth Colliery needed extra time to see off South Elmsall United Services in the Sheffield Association Cup, with Danny Siddall (2), Tom Cooke, Neil Heaybourne and Tony Garner scoring in a 5-2 win, while Staveley Miners Welfare went out 2-1 at Penistone Church. There was no joy in midweek for Central Midlands League sides in the Sheffield Senior Cup. Harworth Colliery came closest, pushing Evostik league Frickley Athletic all the way in a 1-0 defeat, while Kinsley went out 4-2 to Maltby Main, Bentley Colliery were beaten 8-3 at Rossington Main and Phoenix were overwhelmed 12-1 by Worksop Parramore.                                                                                                              Richard Lane
