Penalty!

No Extra Time In GYAFL Cup Matches

To avoid any doubt : Extra Time will NOT be played in any GYAFL Cup Matches - instead the match will go straight to penalties if the scores are level at the end of Normal Time.

Penalty Shootouts will be held in accordance with the FA Handbook (Rules of Penalty Competition) - therefore all Referees, Club Officials and Players should note:

For ALL age groups from under 8 through to under 16, 5 penalty kicks will be taken by 5 of the players remaining on the pitch at the end of normal time.

If the scores are level after the first 5 penalties have been taken, the shootout goes to SUDDEN DEATH. For clarity - only the players who were on the pitch at the end of normal time may take part in the penalty shootout - therefore for under 8 matches where the format is 5 v 5, in the event of 'sudden death' , the same 5 players will be involved in the 'sudden death' shootout.
For under 9 and 10's where the format is 7 v 7, the other two players who weren't involved in the first 5 penalties will take part in the 'sudden death' shootout as required.
For Under 11 and 12's, where the format is 9 v 9, the other 4 players who did not take any of the first 5 penalties will take part in the 'sudden death' shootout as required.
Under 13 to Under 16 will also go to 'sudden death' if required.
