MATCH DAY 7 (OCTOBER 1st 2023) REPORT

DRAYTON - OVERCOME FRANK PARKERS TO GO SECOND !

The commencement of this years County Cup Competitions saw a shortened league programme this week.

In the NDSFL PREMIER LEAGUE, goals from Simon Short, Jack Colley and Jack Bonnell saw Drayton beat Frank Parker 3-1 to climb to 2nd place. Kyle Crawford with Parker’s reply.

Only Witherley United sit above them at the top as they boast a 100% record so far. They saw off Bedworth Bank 3-0 thanks to goals from Jack Price, Jordan Coles and Jenson Corbett. Elsewhere in the Premier League, Poplar Athletic were 2-1 winners over Ridge Lane, with Joe Miles and Ben Thackeray on target with Josh McEwan with Ridge Lane’s goal.

Haunchwood Sports have gone 6 points clear at the top of NDSFL LEAGUE ONE after a 4-2 victory at Attleborough Royal Oak. Haunchwood goals coming from an Oli Hawker brace, Mark Williams and Marcus Southwell. Alex Lock and Danny Edmonds scored the Attleborough goals.

Royal Trent picked up a 4-2 win of their own as they beat Hearty Goodfellow. 2 goals from Reece Rawlings and singles from Jack Millard and Michael Saddler were enough to settle the contest in Trent’s favour. Luke Hand and Danny Moreton were on target for Hearty.

Goals from Mark Bradbury and a Asif Raja brace kept Swan Dive’s perfect start intact in MARK BLAIR FINANCE LEAGUE TWO as they picked up a 3-2 win at Acorn, Joshua Walton and Paul Johnson finding the net for Acorn.

Another side yet to taste defeat is Grendon but they were made to work hard for it when they ran out 1-0 winners over Crows Nest Sports. A Jack Barter goal was enough to send the points back to Boot Hill.

Witherley United Reserves were 5-0 winners against Bermuda Park thanks to Ricky Luke’s hat-trick. He was backed up by singles from Bobby Gould and Evan Luke. Athletico Duke sit unbeaten in 2nd place as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Bedworth Ex-Servicemen. Ethan Baynham and Harvey Westwood scoring for the Servicemen with Jack Joyce and Ellis Green making sure the spoils were shared.

Liam Dean hit a hat-trick for Saunders Hall but they too had to settle for a point as Michael Hutchinson, Chris Whittington and Tom Scott made sure Travs didn’t leave empty handed.

Table topping Hinckley Wanderers had to settle for a share of the spoils in NUNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE THREE as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Attleborough Sports, Jamie Roe scoring for Hinckley and Martyn Betteridge for Attleborough Sports.

2 goals from Danny Winterbotham and singles from Luke Newton and Matt Vineham ensured Rumour Mill (Barwell) remained 3rd as they claimed a 4-2 victory against Lamb and Flag. Kenny Fenton scoring both Lamb and Flag goals.
Newdigate United sit in 4th place only on goal difference as they were 3-2 winners at Griff and Coton Manor Reserves. James Lloyd’s brace and a Bradley Gibson-Hill strike with Newdigate’s goals. Ryan a Chilton and Adam Bourne scoring for Griff.

Weddington Athletic hit 6 without reply to win 6-0 against Hearty Goodfellow Reserves. 2 from Lewis Stowie and singles from Jake Temple, Adrian Talbot, Karl Buhring and Sam Brindley with the Weddy' goals.
Bedworth Bank Reserves picked up a 3-1 win over Anchor Inn (Hartshill) thanks to goals from Kye Smith, David Hewitt and Zak Bhara. Mark Mulholland replied for Anchor.
